What do fish look like on the inside? Usually a hands-on dissection a la high school biology is necessary to see the inside of a fish, but curators at Smithsonians National Museum of Natural History can use X-rays to get a better look without damaging the specimen. This X-ray of a Monterey skate highlights its cartilaginous spine that extends out in a tail-like way.
