What do these two things have in common with a Nat Shick Totem - TopicsExpress

What do these two things have in common with a Nat Shick Totem Pole? On November 1st, the Heritage Museum will unveil the two new totem pole additions. The first pole was given to the museum by the Museum of The Southwest. The second pole was brought to us by the City of Big Spring, when the vandals chopped it down in the City Park. We have restored large portions of the Park totem pole however, there were portions that were unusable. We decided to see if one of our local wood crafters could make us something with this wood and we came up with the idea of these pens. However, it does not stop there, the pole had been given to Nat Shick after it had been removed from downtown. It appears this particular pole was one of the first telephone poles used on Main Street. The cedar pole is at least 104 years old if not older and there is no telling how old the tree was that was used for the pole. Now approximately 100 people will be able to own this piece of history while helping the museum out financially! We are actually hoping to get 100 pens from the wood. The pens will go on sale on November 1st for $35.00 each. If you would like to reserve your pen, please call Cheryl at 267-8255. Remember, there is a limited number to purchase after these have sold there will be no more!
