What do you all think of the year 2014 in general? I think its been a memorable and it was important not to end it in a negative way. Ive already reviewed the first half of the season and we all agreed its an acceptable position to be in (5th but only below 4th place on GD) despite all the injuries and the unbalanced starting 11 (especially the back four). We have a lot to look forward to in 2015. The FA cup is this weekend and we have a great UCL draw for once vs Monaco. Not to mention tomorrows game is so crucial as we could not only end the night in 4th place, but we could also go past Utd into 3rd. 2014 saw Sanchez as a major signings. The transfer window would have great if we had replaced Vermaelen as that has proved costly this season. If we had a proper CB to replace Koscielny then we would have done better defensively and not concede school boy error type of goals. The 2013-14 also ended as a positive for us. 4th place, although disappointing considering we were 1st for most of the time that season, was still good considering most people predicted us to drop outside of the top 4 and we did have the weakest forward line in our premier league history under Wenger. Its his fault for not buying a back up for Giroud. I think Welbeck/Sanchez last season would have been enough for us to at least finish 2nd. 1st would have a high possibility for sure. 2014 was also the year where we finally ended our trophy drought. Great cup final game ended by a great goal by Ramsey to seal a comeback victory. I still remember that day very well. A rollercoaster of emotion of a game! Its a significant year solely because of that. And really, if we failed to win the FA cup, 2013-14 season would have been a fail but instead, we got £30 million UCL money and won a trophy. Hopefully the signings of Ozil and Sanchez will only attract more top players to sign for us in 2015 but I think we can all agree, at this moment on, 2014 has been a success. Respectable league positions both at the end of 2013/14 season and the calendar year, major signings, memorable matches and success at last in winning a trophy. Well two if you count the Community Shield as a proper one. It is a trophy recognised by FA to be fair but not a major one. Just a minor one but its still an official trophy.
