What do you get when you take a 9 year old and a 2 year old canoeing? Sore shoulders! The two year old will insist on holding his own paddle and then use it to undermine your every move. The nine year old will encourage you to explore distant edges of the lake and then exhaust his nine year old muscles on the way back leaving their precious lives in your hands alone (well, more specifically your shoulders) as you simultaneously ward off lake creatures, tantrums, and nightfall.
