What do you remember most about September 11, 2001? I distinctly - TopicsExpress

What do you remember most about September 11, 2001? I distinctly remember watching the news footage in numb disbelief as reality sank in after the second tower was hit. I knew then that it was an intentional act of violence and not simply a tragic accident....and I knew at that moment that nothing would ever be the same for America. As the shock wore off, I watched us do what we do best as we came together as a nation to defend, support, and comfort each other. Our differences fell by the wayside as we became united by the tragic experience that had shaken each of us to our core. We forgot about profit as we comforted each other during loss. The strong upheld the weak and our courage never wavered. Political party lines dissolved and true leaders appeared. Public prayer became politically correct as our cries floated upward in the silent skies. We once again became one nation under God as churches were filled to capacity while we mourned our losses and rejoiced in modern day miracles. Our faith in God and the goodness of man was restored as we faced the evil that had been presented to us with courage and hope. The worst of all tragedies we had faced brought out the best in us. Todays tragedy is not that we have forgotten that fateful day, but that we seem to have forgotten many of the lessons we learned about how leadership, loyalty, and love UNITED us and that as God was with our nation then, He is with us now.
