What do you think of Atlantis? Was ancient Thera (Santorini) in the Aegean the basis for Atlantis? I disagree with the theory presented here. If the Thera eruption (c. 1500 BC) really was the basis for the destruction of Atlantis, why isnt it as strongly attested as the stories about the Greek heroes? And why did the story have to come to Greece from Egypt if it took place on an Aegean island? The segment that starts at approximately 16:45, on the other hand, shows extremely important work: the reconstruction of faces from the bodies found at Mycenae. The bodies and their famous golden masks date to c. 1500 BC, centuries before Agamemnon but closer to the time of Theras eruption. Could any of these faces belong to Mycenaes heroic founder, Perseus?
