What do you think of this, Prince Edward Island? Both Cornwall - TopicsExpress

What do you think of this, Prince Edward Island? Both Cornwall Councillors who voted against a resolution encouraging the province to give municipalities the power to ban cosmetic pesticides made it clear they are opposed to cosmetic pesticides. However, the tactic of downloading provincial responsibilities to municipalities is questionable. The province has the means and resources to create and enforce effective regulations to protect our environment; they should be doing this. Municipalities are under-funded by other levels of government, and therefore lack the ability to enforce a cosmetic pesticide ban in a meaningful way. Regardless, 70% of PEIs land is unincorporated, so even if every incorporated community brought forward a pesticide ban, that would only solve 30% of the problem. Its more important to keep the pressure on the provincial government and the Department of the Environment to enact laws that will bring an end to the use of all cosmetic pesticides tip-to-tip.
