What do you think of this? Youve probably seen it by now, lots of people are talking about it. This video pokes fun at the parenting wars, including formula feeding and breastfeeding while communicating a positive message that were all in this together. The stereotypes are trite yet we can probably recognize ourselves in some of them. Over all, a message I agree with. I know, bad breastfeeding advocate, shame on me but I think we can admit when someone has done something well. I may question some of the companys ethics, believe that their product and manufacturing standards should be improved, and despise some of their marketing tactics, but I cant dislike something just because of the source. Thats no better than some dismissing our messaging because sometimes breastfeeding advocates come across too forceful sometimes. We could learn a WHOLE lot from formula companies. I like this video. Its not perfect but its good because its funny and moving and, though ridiculous, relatable. And I say that well aware that it is from a formula company. Because I recognize we can learn a lot from the industry that made the biological normal method of infant feeding a secondary option for a very long time. The only thing I wish they would have had are the moms breastfeeding with covers and ones without. Theres a lot of tension there too and if the bottles can be out in public, so can the lactating breast. All is fair in love and war. I take that back, its not the only thing I wish, I also wish breastfeeding support product companies would work together to create a group that could afford to create similarly brilliant ad campaigns.
