What does PSC military title mean? There is a lazy writeup making the rounds, like most others, that alleges that GMB is the ONLY military man that did not have a psc! This mediocrity is one of too many that some people peddle around but here are some facts which I would like to be corrected on, if I am wrong: 1. PSC means Pass Staff Course and not Pass Staff College! ......Successful students are awarded Pass Staff Course (psc) and Pass Junior Staff Course (pjsc) at the end of the Senior and Junior Courses respectively defence.gov.ng/index.php/2013-08-28-08-09-22/others/csc 2. The fore runner of the present Staff college was established on 29 May 76 as Army Command and Staff College, with assistance from the British Army Advisory Team (BAAT). According to its website, (nigerianafcsc.org/Hist_Bkgrd.htm), the first Senior Officers Course (SOC 1), which lasted for 6 months, was conducted from May 1976. It was re-designated Command and Staff College (CSC), on 1 Sept 78, to reflect the anticipated tri-service nature of the College. 3. OBJ and a number of senior military men who run the government at that time did, definitely, not attend the college! I am not aware of OBJ appending a PSC too! Therefore, with OBJ, it is an obvious fallacy to say only GMB does not have PSC and that this is due to poor academic performance when this men are far senior to the names parading psc. They were part of a government that started the institution awarding the title! 4. The lazy writeup mixes what was IBB speech at the time of overthrowing GMB/Idiagbons regime with other fallacies to score a cheap point! Facts are sacred but then do they really care!
