What does TF-CBT and Chinese food have in common? Adoption Rhode Island Clinicians and Adoption Recruitment staff enjoyed both earlier this week! The day-long training on trauma-focused cognitive behavioral treatment elicited lively discussions about how important it is for our kids to learn emotional regulation techniques and to be able to tell their trauma narrative in creative and healing ways. The Chinese food was for lunch! There is tremendous interest in the field to increase use of evidence-based treatments that target specific mental health problems and needs of foster and adopted youth. Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) potentially provides an excellent fit.
