What does a true mature believer (father) look like? 1. This person is so wrapped up in God Himself.. This is more than marveling at His power, this is worshipping His person. His power flows out of His person, just as His acts or works flow out of His character. Look at Moses, who after he had seen the power of God demonstrated as few have, desire to see His person more than His power. This is Isaiah who had seen the works of God, but was humbled and saw himself corrupt when he viewed the glory of God. This was Paul, who had seen the power of God but desired more: that I might know HIM (Philippians 3:10). 2. This person is enjoying the rest or Sabbath provided by the finished work of Christ. (Hebrews 4:9-10). They are so content with God that they are secure and content in His love to the point that they trust God with their desires. They now concern themselves with His desires. 3. They no long live to live, they live for Jesus Christ. They seek first to build His kingdom. They set all their affections on things above thus being freed from the things of the earth, they are now free to serve people on earth (Colossians 3:1-3) 4. They have learned that their joy and contentment is not in things, people, circumstances, or life itself, but in the Lord. Thus, they are what one has called a thermostat to change the temperature around them and not a thermometer that only reflects the environment they are in. 5. They are in the position where they do not react to circumstances, but allow the Holy Spirit to respond to circumstances. They wait on God for God to do His work through the believer. They wait on God, hear from God and then believe God. They have an abiding relationship with Christ. Do you desire to grow to be this mature believer? Not an infant or young man, but a father in the faith?
