What does analytical depth in a syntax paper mean to you? Here is an example from Classical NEG Raising. We have three main arguments for classical NEG Raising: islands, Horn Clauses and parenthetical. in addition, we discuss the main argument that people have given against Classical NEG Raising, which we call the composed quantifier argument. What gives the arguments depth is that we show how these four domains interact. For example, in discussing the Composed Quantifier argument, we discuss islands and Horn-Clauses. In discussing parentheticals, we discuss Horn-clauses and the Composed Quantifier argument (and islands a bit). So we show how all the data domains and arguments interact. Of course, this is a natural consequence of the combinatorial nature of language.
