What does it mean to be generous to the poor? Any financial gift or financial donation should be temporary, as a tool for future growth, not a permanent solution. What is better, to continually give food to someone or to give food to someone while we teach them how to feed themselves? Welfare is not supposed to be water to reduce the possibility of forest fire. Also, there are many ways in which we can be generous to the poor such as love, respect, teaching, sharing, education, job opportunities, equality, and temporary financial assistance. Financial slavery is not one of them. Take heed my friends, treating someone like he is beneith you will result in that person biting you in the foot! By the way, do you think God allowed some to be affluent so they could hoard and not use those gifts to help others? I dont think so! Be generous to the poor: 17 Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will repay him for his deed. (Proverbs 19 : 17 - ESV)
