What does the name Jesus Christ mean to you? Was the Christ - TopicsExpress

What does the name Jesus Christ mean to you? Was the Christ unique to Jesus or does it have a more expansive and inclusive meaning? Here, in this excerpt from the book is how we think of the name in Unity, CSL and other metaphysical / New Thought groups: As metaphysicians we have always grasped the distinction between Jesus, the man of Nazareth, and the Christ principle which Jesus embodied and brought into full flowering as the actualization of that potential which is within each of us. Jesus himself acknowledged the difference between the two terms, referring to himself as both Son of God (the divine aspect of his nature) and Son of Man (the human aspect). The terms represent two phases of his being and indeed of our own being. The entire focus of Jesus’ ministry – both through his teachings and in the great works that he did – was to embody and illustrate the distinction between the two aspects of his nature, because it was absolutely essential to our own understanding of who we are – spiritual beings (the Christ of us) expressing through human forms. In The Power of Constructive Thinking Emmet Fox calls our inherent spiritual potential, our own Christ faculty, “The Wonder Child”, because like a child nurtured in its mother’s womb, it is not yet fully mature, but in the process of development while lovingly enfolded in the ‘matrix’ of the soul. There, under the aegis of God’s love and protection, the Christ-child, our individual spiritual selfhood, gradually but steadily grows in strength and maturity until the day comes when it is ready to be fully revealed upon the plane of manifestation. ``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````` The Principles of New Thought is available in both paperback and electronic versions from amazon, barnesandnoble and directly from the publisher, devorss
