What exactly is the stumbling block that prevents us from naming ALL our roads and streets in Ghana? This morning Ive been trying to find Pentecost University because Im visiting my uncle in Sowutuom and thats the major landmark. So I go to the Pentecost University website and their map says its off the Santa Maria exit on the N1. I start my drive from Dansoman, I slow down and ask an orange hawker for directions. No, no, no! This is not Santa Maria junction. Next traffic light. I drive on, turn and enquire from a filling station attendant. Go aaaa till you reach Santa Maria last stop and take a right and drive aaaaa! Which is fine but this is my first time in Santa Maria! After three more directional encounters with another fuel attendant, a young man and two female students, I locate the university. I call my uncle and he says, Come back. Im waiting at the junction! Naming of streets and numbering of houses cant be rocket science can it? Its possible. Just ask the citizens of Lagos.
