What happened last night was a direct result of the Mayor not respecting or honoring the agreement made with the Council during the bailout restructuring of the CRC late last year. The agreement was for the Directors pay to be reduced to $60,000 as there was anticipated to be a much reduced demand given no funds to pursue new projects. Council agreed that if a new opportunity presented itself we would endeavor to find additional funds. No new opportunity presented, instead it was a management decision that led to last nights vote. The decision was to spend as had been done previously and expect additional funds would automatically be provided. The same practice that led to the wealthiest Redevelopment Commission in the Midwest being unable to sustain its debt!
