What happened to the customer is always right? How about sometimes? Occasionally? 1 time out of 1000? I will admit, Im particular about a lot of things...including how my groceries are bagged. I have quite a trek from the grocery store to my home so Im really not thrilled when I see frozen food items defrosting all over a box of crackers. Or finding tomatoes nestled comfortably under a bag of onions. So to avoid this minor meltdown that I have been known (on occasion) to have, I always load the conveyor belt by grouping like items together therefore making them easier to bag. AND, I go so far as to ask for like items to be bagged together, especially produce. And I am specific in my request...grapes together all in one bag, apples in a separate bag, peaches in a separate bag, frozen food together,...well, you get the drift. Piece of cake, right? Obviously not. So Im at the grocery store just an hour ago, and I make my bagging request. Rather than listen to what I asked, the cashier starts ringing my items up faster, tossing whatever is in her hand into the bags. I know that she thought that this would move me out of her line more quickly but in fact it slowed it down because I am now re-bagging my items. Of course, produce is cheap so why should I mind that the six large Granny Smith apples ended up on top of my grapes? What has happened to courtesy and common sense?
