What happens to crime victims when an individual is wrongfully convicted and exonerated? The authors of the NIJ Journal article from the OJP National Institute of Justice demonstrate that for some victims, the impact of the wrongful conviction may be comparable to — or even worse than — that of their original victimization. Crime victims may experience feelings of guilt, fear, helplessness, devastation and depression. The authors also found a lack of available services to support crime victims who have been notified of a potential wrongful conviction. Read the full article.
