What happens when you get a world-renowned Finnish opera star (Tarja Turunen), and cross her with a Melodic Power Metal band, then throw in some theatrical-style, symphonic strings and lush orchestral backgrounds, and finally top it off with some Celtic-style musical bridges (see time-frame 5:30) for good measure? You get something truly unique, and unrivaled: A band called Nightwish. And this particular song of theirs ... titled Ghost Love Score ... is the very best of their life-long work (thus far), in my opinion. (On a side note: Ive been comparing their newest-hired singer, Floor Jansen, with their former-singer, Tarja, as seen in this world-tour video, here. And, all in all, I still feel that Tarja was their very best. What a shame - and what a TRAGIC LOSS - that she is no longer with this band!) But, dont go away ... when things seem to take on a brief, orchestral pause (at time-frame 4:30). Thats just the proverbial calm before the storm. At time-frame 5:30, they start building toward a climax, and it just gets increasingly more powerful, and builds and builds. I get chills, watching this, every time. (But maybe thats just me.) This.
