What happens when you keep praising and giving unconditional support to your police force instead of holding them accountable for their crimes? A police officer in the city of Mersin called two 8-year old boys playing nearby and told one to slap the other. When the kid refused, the cop slapped him, beat him up, smashed his head against a car hood. Others then helped the officer strip and wash him, put his clothes back on and send him home. The boy has suffered multiple internal injuries and is being treated in hospital since last week. His mother was scolded by the police when she went to the station to complain. She says the officers are behaving violently towards the children in the neighbourhood and that theirs is not an isolated case. The police department has confirmed the incident and said they have launched an investigation.
