What happens when your dog is bathed at Fur? Shampooing a dog - TopicsExpress

What happens when your dog is bathed at Fur? Shampooing a dog is actually a science! Knowing the science behind skin and coat, and the products used, how they work and what they do is top of my priority list! I continually up skill myself in this area along with the actual grooming. Getting shampoos right is vital to your dogs coat and skin care & the grooming process. I research & discuss with suppliers and other groomers around the country shampoos, conditioners their uses and quality. At Fur we DO NOT skimp on product and only use high quality safe, products. At the moment we have a range of 10 various high quality groomers shampoos & 4 different quality groomers conditioners for all coat types, textures, skin sensitivity, itchy skin, greasy and dry skin and more. When your dog comes in for grooming or even just a bath I give the dog a quick brush out to separate the coat and check for skin issues, warts, injuries, fleas and matting that may have to be addressed before the dog goes into the bath. During this time I assess your dogs coat and skin to determine the best shampoo for YOUR dog. Your dog is always shampooed twice, sometimes 3 times depending on how dirty/greasy he/she is. During the shampoo process I will sometimes use 2 different shampoos. If your dog has greasy ears (common in spaniels) I will address the ears with a gentle and natural de-greasing product. Water and products are never put into the ear. I then condition your dogs coat with one of our 4 different conditioners, using what is most suited to your dogs coat. The conditioner is lightly combed through. A thorough rinse off is done between shampoos and at the end. Your dog is then thoroughly dried and brushed out & ready for grooming. The preparation process can be quite time consuming but is vital in ensuring your dog is clean and the coat nicely prepared for clipping, scissoring and styling :-) If you have any questions regarding the bathing process please feel free to ask :-)
