What has become of the United States, this country has become the very thing that our ancestors fled and fought against. The first Pilgrims to this county were fleeing religious persecution. Now it seems that all you see on t.v. and read in the news is about how one religious group is fighting against another. Or some religious extremist committing an atrocious act violence. Why is it in this country we have the freedom of religion but if you practice a different religion other than Christianity, you are instantly wrong. I have even seen this amongst the different branches of Christianity. The first amendment of the constitution reads Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. now a lot of time and expense has been spent debating the exact nuances of this amendment. I ask that we all discuss this very subject this week and just see where it takes us and maybe we can all gain some knowledge and understanding of the varying subtleties of this very amendment.
