What has happened to Sunday current affairs on TVNZ ... no dont - TopicsExpress

What has happened to Sunday current affairs on TVNZ ... no dont answer that we all know. Sunday on TVNZ tonight started with an interesting story about the murder of a young girl some 50 years ago - However because they are so bloody PC that they kept referring to it as a disappearance even though they had a recording of the husband of the now deceased murderer admitting his late wifes guilt. At the end of the story did they tell us that they had passed on their findings on to the police - that they were lobbying for an inquiry ? No - we got the contact us on facebook if you know anything else. There appeared to be absolutely NO driver for the investigative piece. Then we had what cannot be described as an interview with Ricky Gervais - A junket piece, that was clearly a purchase from someone I knew as a lightweight showbiz reporter at Channel 7 in OZ ... I could get a more incisive interview from Dominic Bowden over on SKY Movies - and that is saying something ! So when my 15 year old daughter pronounced at the end of this turgid ad for the latest Muppet Movie, well that was pretty pointless wasnt it, all I could think was TVNZs Frontline was SO VERY long ago. As I write over and over again I think TVNZ are becoming increasingly irrelevant and I dont think they will be around for too much longer in their present incarnation. Once upon a time their resources scared the wits out of the opposition - Tonight the whole show could have been made for around $30,000 and that includes the Ricky Gervais buy-in AND the saccharine studio links ... so how much DID this half hour of primetime set the tax-payer back ? RIP any sort of serious current affairs at TVNZ. The audience are giving up ... when will they ?
