What has helped make the Anglo Sikh Heritage Trail such an interesting and engaging initiative is that it relies on the power of people and places to capture the imagination. People and places are after all the backbone of history. This is evident not only in world renowned places such as Osborne House and Windsor Castle but also in the Orkney Islands to the north east of the Scottish mainland. It was here in 1801 in Stromness that John Login would be born. Inevitably he was entranced by the sea. The environs of his birth would combined with his ambition and drive would eventually see him in the service of the East India Company.
