What if God sent you a messenger? Would you recognize him for what he was? Do you suppose you would realize that God was taking direct intervention in your life, if only you would heed his words? Consider the example of Abraham. Salvation history commences because Abraham sees three men and recognizes them in a way others do not. He is lord in his own place, but he bows to these men and calls them lords and hastens to offer them hospitality as if he were a servant. Abraham gets it. And if you are a Jew or a Christian or a Muslim today, you owe a debt to Abraham being open to the idea that God could do such a thing. Sarai who will be afterwards be Sarah is in on the meeting, but does not get it at first. She actually laughs at something one of these divine messengers says. But Abraham.... he gets it even when his wife is laughing. And because he gets it, all of us who are Children of the Book area little closer to God. So I ask again, if you are presented with a messenger and a message, are you ready and willing? Will you get it? I believe I am. Let the healing begin. Holy is the Lord. Amen
