What if Kennedy had lived (on this 50th anniversary of his assassination)? Many historians think we would have avoided many big mistakes like Vietnam. He likely would have been a bold leader that could unite centrists, reasonable conservatives and moderate liberals in a coalition that could have lead to the United States being far stronger, much better off economically and far more respected in the world. Our country suffered major setbacks and decline during the Vietnam era and again from 2001-2009, both leading to most Americans losing wealth, the national debt skyrocketing, unneeded wars greatly damaging pour country and people, and a huge decline in our power and respect in the world. The wasted potential is tragic! We lost both Kennedys, Robert would have likely beat Nixon. With different leaders the US could be far better off, most Americans should be far better off economically.
