What is Clinical Pilates? Pilates is an exercise regime which uses specific floor and equipment-based exercises to recruit and retrain the bodys deep stabilising muscles. These core muscle groups include the abdominal and back muscles, as well as the pelvic floor and hip muscles. The purpose of training these muscles is to provide stability, strength and control to assist with recovery from injury and to prevent aggravation in the future. Strong research advocates the training of these core muscles in patients with low back pain.
