What is Ecology? Ecology is the science that studies the interactions between organisms and their environment, ie, is the scientific study of the distribution and abundance of living organisms and the interactions that determine its distribution. [1] The interactions may be between living and / or the environment. The word ecology comes from the Greek oikos meaning house, and logos study. Therefore, by extension would be the study of the house, or, more generally, the place where one lives.
