What is God like? How does He work? As our Good Father, God does not want to get us into a place of danger, failure or falling. He is a planner and He knows His plans. When we are asking God for something He may look at us and do an inventory to see what it is we need in order for Him to be able to answer our request because He desires to give us good things. We may be in need of more perseverance, or character adjustment or the ability to hope, to look beyond disappointment, to become more farsighted. We may need to forgive. We may need to learn responsibility, dependability. We may need to learn more about His character and who He is in order to have greater trust in Him. We may need to mature. We may need to develop a fuller prayer life, more knowledge of His word or have more schooling. There may be people and circumstances that He is also scheduling in the process for us later. Ask Him what is required of you. He said to seek the Kingdom first and His righteousness and He will provide for the practical such as food, clothing, shelter and also everything that has to do with life and Godliness. Ask where you are in the process...ask and keep on asking so you can keep in step with His purposes and plans. 2 Peter 1:2-10 ...His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins. Therefore, brethren, be all the more diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you; for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble;for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you. Romans 5:1-5 Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of God’s glory. 3 Not only this, but we also rejoice in sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance (perseverance), 4 and endurance, character, and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
