History repeats itself and you have a supply of better trained individuals and lesser trained individuals for a competition. That shows that you have variety of trainers with various ideas, training methods, and assumptions without setting realistic objectives and possession of know how to apply them. You also have varieties of individuals with differentiating drives and builds for the task. There is only handful class of champions with track of success until they make a simple mistake. The drive is to win with scores of light contact or moderate contact but yet minimize debilitating damage. It is much easier to kill than to control. The assumption that if you can control your opponent then you are in a better shape than someone that does not, has some truth to it but not in all cases. As the size and number of attackers will increase your ability to control them will decrease. A sportsman does not kill his opponent to win a sports competition. Need to understand principles to succeed or work hard on all known areas and gain experience as you go for each champion.
