What is Gracie doing!? CFWs non-releasable broad-winged hawk - TopicsExpress

What is Gracie doing!? CFWs non-releasable broad-winged hawk enjoyed a nice walk and the chance to do a little bird watching :). As disabled, permanent residents, CFWs ambassadors enjoy enrichment on a regular basis to ensure a great quality of life. Our educators also enjoy the chance to observe some of their adaptations up close! Here, Gracie is demonstrating a hawks incredible eyesight. Most birds have binocular vision, especially our predatory hawks. This allows birds to see much further than we are able to as well as focus their eyes faster than we would be able. This acute vision comes in handy as they spot and chase quickly moving prey through their habitat. As Gracie bobs her head up and down, she is focusing her eyes and depth perception, allowing her to see about 8 times better than a human! Interested in learning more about the amazing world of raptors? Join us this Sunday at the Mount Agamenticus Learning Lodge for our popular Eyes Like A Hawk from 10 am-12 pm. There is a $5 suggested donation for the event and reservations are required, so please email Emily at [email protected] to join!
