What is Plantar Fasciitis? Plantar Fasciitis (PLAN-tur - TopicsExpress

What is Plantar Fasciitis? Plantar Fasciitis (PLAN-tur fas-e-I-tis) is the name given to the inflamed condition of the thick connective tissue (a ligament) called the "plantar fascia" that supports the arch of your foot. The Plantar Fascia attaches to the heel bone and then splits into several thinner bands, as it reaches towards the toes. If the Plantar Fasciitis ligament is under significant and continued stresses, small tears in the ligament fibers will gradually weaken the fascia. A weakened ligament will no longer be able to support the arch of the foot. If the arch of the foot can no longer support the weight subjected to it, you will start to feel pain during exercise, notice some swelling and inflammation.
