What is ROOT and what does it do to to your smartphone? Sometimes you ask yourself what is root and does I really need to root my smartphone? Rooting is basic. If youre an android enthusiast, rooting is the first thing you need to do. Root could give you many possible effects in your smartphones such as: 1) You can install ClockworkMod Recovery ( CWM ) is a replacement recovery option for Android devices, made by Koushik Koush Dutta. It is based on the Android 2.1 (Eclair) recovery image. Features include Nandroid backup, anb shell, advanced update.zip options (ignore asserts and signature checks), and file browser for choosing update.zips The Rom Manager app may be used for installing CWM, overwriting the devices stock recovery. As with the stock recovery, CWM can apply software changes to the device. Unlike the stock recovery, CWM is able to entirely replace the devices primary Android operating system (flashing a new ROM), including with aftermarket replacements such as CyanogenMod. Once installed, CWM it is accessed by turning your phone off, then triggeringm the bootloader prompt by holding down some device-dependent button combination as it is turned on. CWM is also known as clockwork and CW recovery. 2) Gains full access to your device.freedomto customize, edit system apps and other stuff. -full potential of the app that needs root to work properly. Cons(side-effects) -with too much access of an application to another application, theres a great chance that your phone will go on BOOT LOOP-Simply means something is preventing the phone from completing it’s boot cycle and is stuck between the boot animation and the unlock screen, creating a looped animation. This is often fixed by either reloading a Nandroid, or Reflashing a rom from the Boot Loader. -may revoke company warranty(or smartphone warranty. -may cause serious problems such as bootloops in your device if you mistakenly modified your system apps. A soft brick, is usually just when youre phone is stuck in a bootloop, and as the name implies, is caused by a software error, usually the lack of a system to boot from or some other minor software bug that glitching boot. They are easily fixable by reflashing your ROM in recovery. Now then, as mentioned earlier a hard brick is where youre device wont boot at all. You have to either repair it yourself, using a JTAG or send it into a JTAG service to have it fixed. These are usually caused by people flashing ROMs or kernels not meant for their device. Flashing a ROM not meant for your device, can throw your system through a loop, because it also flashes the kernel. The kernel is what allows your phones software to interact with the hardware. It contains all the necessary info for boot, and also your phones drivers. Theres a line in the kernel called bootclasspath , and if this isnt what it should be for your device, you will get a hard brick, as this line tells your phone how to boot. Rooting apps -one click root(pc) -framaroot(apk) -vroot(apk) -universal root(apk) -and many more. Smartphones with mediatek chipsets can be easily rooted with framaroot. Some brands with such chipset is mostly local brands. (cherry mobile, myphone, arc mobile, torque, starmobile) International brands(samsung, lenovo, sony) may require pc to root and sometimes bootloader to be unlocked (c): to the owner of this post.
