What is YouthSpeak? YouthSpeak is a registered charity located in York Region, Ontario that employs youth who have had personal challenges with bullying, mental health and addiction to share their stories in assemblies, workshops, parent/teacher groups and keynotes. These youth are paying-it-forward by using their struggles to give hope to other youth who may feel alone. YouthSpeak has taken off since the first presentation in November 2003. To date, we have reached well over 100,000 students, educators, parents, youth counsellors and police officers throughout southern Ontario. However, there is so much to be done if we are to truly make a change in our communities. Young people aged 15 - 24 are more likely to experience mental illness and/or substance use disorders than any other age group 83 percent of girls, and 79 percent of boys report being bullied either in school or online One in eight high school students feel self-conscious about asking for help Our vision is to one day reach every youth, every school (including elementary, secondary, and post secondary), every community across Canada and inspire a strong message of respect, hope, tolerance and positive change.
