What is a Disney Freak? Terms like Disney Freaks, Disney Fans, Tattoos with Disney Characters, Disney Bumper stickers, your second Christmas Trees has only Disney ornaments… I could go on and on…These are all terms that fit the people in this house. And we love it. Everyone could use a little more Disney in their life. Don’t you agree? In between each Walt Disney World vacation you have to hold yourself over somehow! Here are my ten ways to incorporate a little bit of Disney magic in each day. 1) Listening to Disney music: Friends that have not been to Disney World before, I make sure they get a CD, so they can sing along to the rides during their visit. And when they get to the park, I always tell them to run straight to “It’s a Small World” that way that song would be stuck in their head ALL day. Someone did it to me, so this is my pay back. “Hakuna Matata” is my jam. Whenever I hear that song come on, you can count on me to bust out those lyrics to the best of my ability (which, trust me, is not all that good). We all have those Disney songs that give us goose bumps and make us yearn for a trip to Walt Disney World. They also make for a great Disney jam session with friends and family, so turn up your favorite Disney tunes and sing along! 2) Watching Disney movies: With the Grandkids Julie and I love to put on Disney movies, best assistant babysitter.. Is it the colors, the voices, or the song that keep the kids entertained? 3) Wearing Disney apparel: I have one draw that is just Disney or should I say Goofy apparel. My clothes from socks to hats are Disney (Goofy). Whether you’re obvious about it or not, I know I love wearing my Disney gear all the time. Aside from the classic gear, which includes Mickey/Minnie ears and themed clothing, the Walt Disney Company now has more practical Disney items for sale. Dooney & Bourke and Vera Bradley have both collaborated with Disney recently to sell their items with a Disney theme. They are great purchases for people who want to carry a little bit of Disney World around with them every day. 4) Reminiscing with friends/family about past Disney trips: I’ve been going to Walt Disney World for 40 years, and there’s no better way to reminisce than talking with family and friends about it. Going through old photos and bringing up stories from previous trips is so much fun, and it makes you want to plan more! Over the years I’ve had the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World with friends, and it has made our mutual love of Disney a part of the friendship, which is just so cool. We have friends that we met on Disney Cruise from all over the world that we keep in touch with…It’s easy to talk with people that are Disney ‘Freaks’…we all have stories. 5) Quoting Disney movies: You know that friend that says the funny lines of a movie before they happen? I’m that friend. One does not simply watch a Disney movie without quoting it the whole time! At a certain point, you’ve seen your favorite movies enough time to be able to quote them as you watch. It’s one of my favorite Disney-related activities. 6) “Disney speak” All best friends have inside jokes, but the best of the best have DISNEY inside jokes. Yes, my friends… it’s a thing. 7) Planning trips to Disney with friends and family: I love making Disney plans for groups, we have groups from 35 to just me. We stay at Disney resorts, Disney Cruises and DVC resorts. This one gets me all hyped up just thinking about it. Where are we going to eat? What fast passes will we pick? Where are we going to stay? Talking it out with your family and friends is so much fun! It brings out the Disney nerd in us all. 8) Meeting another Disney fan: There’s nothing more exciting than meeting another Disney super fan. You automatically have endless possibilities of Disney “fandoms” to talk about, which includes everything from your favorite restaurants, rides, and entertainment. Talk about instant friendship! We even stood up for friend we sat with on a Disney Cruise... 9) Making your favorite Disney recipe: Julie is one of the best cooks I know…One of my favorite perks of going to Disney is the food I get to eat while I’m there. Why not bring a little bit of that home with you? Walt Disney World’s recipes are mostly available online. Making your favorite Disney dish is a great way to enjoy a Disney moment at home! Here is Julies favorite: Disneyland-copycat Dole Whips Ingredients •2 20 ounce cans crushed pineapple •2 tablespoons fresh lime juice •2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice •2 tablespoons sugar •1 8 ounce container non-dairy whipped topping (Cool Whip) •pineapple juice, chilled, for serving Instructions 1.Combine the crushed pineapple (with its juice), lime juice, lemon juice, and sugar in a blender, and process until very smooth. Add the whipped topping and process again until smooth. 2.Pour the mixture into a prepared ice cream maker, and process 15-20 minutes, or until it is the consistency of soft-serve. Place in the freezer until ready to serve. 3.To serve, fill a cup halfway full with pineapple juice. Add the frozen mixture to fill the cup. I piped my ice cream in using an open star tip to make it a little more fun and festive, but scooping would work great too. Enjoy! 10) Disney décor/cookware: The Walt Disney Company has recently begun manufacturing and selling more and more Disney-themed décor and cookware. The newest addition to the Downtown Disney Marketplace, (the Marketplace Co-op), and the World of Disney store both sell classic Mickey themed cookware as well as more practical, everyday use options. My favorites include the Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion glassware and the Dole Whip bowls. What a great way to bring a little bit of Disney into your everyday! So who want to go on a Disney vacation, I’m going in February, April and thinking of booking a cruise with some friends in November… OPA Goofy @MrGoofy1
