What is amazing is that during Ramadan, you see some people who fast and pray at night, who spend in charity and worship the Lord of the Worlds, then no sooner has the month come to an end, but their nature changes completely, and they begin to have a bad attitude towards their Lord. So you see them neglecting prayer and avoiding righteous deeds, committing sins and disobeying Allah in many different ways, keeping away from obedience towards Allah, the Sovereign, the Holy, the One Free from all defects. How terrible it is, by Allah, when people only acknowledge Allah in Ramadan. Muslim should make Ramadan an opportunity to turn over a new leaf by repenting, turning to Allah, persisting in worshiping Allah, always being aware that Allah is watching at every minute of every hour. So after Ramadan the Muslim should continue to obey Allah and should avoid sin and evil actions, as a continuation of the way he was during Ramadan and the things that he did then to draw closer to the Lord of creation. Allah says: “And perform As‑Salah (Iqamat‑as‑ Salah), at the two ends of the day and in some hours of the night [i.e. the five compulsory Salah (prayers)]. Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (i.e. small sins). That is a reminder (an advice) for the mindful (those who accept advice)” | Surah Hood 11:114 |
