What is an attachment and why do we need to practice the Law of Detachment? Attachment is fear of uncertainly, lack of trust, it is an object referred consciousness that needs external happiness. External happiness is not real and does not last – shopping spree, drinking night, impulsive gratification, all that feels good but only for the moment and does not bring lasting happiness. Most of all, it does not get us where we want to be and does not fulfill our deepest desires. By detaching, we free ourselves from the need for approval, so we can tune in to the field of all possibilities and infinite creativity. By detaching from what (people, places and material things that we have lived with and for, for many years) no longer serve us we open to attract and receive the positive universal energy that is all around us. Detaching does not mean we will disconnect from our intentions and desires and we will just seat and wait for the Universe to take care of us. It means we will plant the seeds of our intentions and desires, we will emotionally detach from the outcome, and wait for our mud to settle. Deepak Copra writes “ True wealth consciousness is the ability to have anything you want, anytime you want, and with least effort. To be grounded in this experience you have to be grounded in the wisdom of uncertainty. In this uncertainty you will find the freedom to create anything you want” The chakra connected to the Law of Detachments is the throat chakra, the Vashuda chakra that is blue in color. This is our center of expression. When open and the energy is flowing freely, we can effortlessly express our authentic self without fear of disapproval or need for approval. My actions are blissfully free from the outcome and I am living in the now.
