What is it? Juice Plus+ is a whole food concentrate (not a multi vit) made from 25 fully ripened raw fruits, vegetables and berries. The fruits, veg and berries have been juiced then dried at low temperature and put into capsules for ease of consumption. What fruits, and what veg ? Apple, Orange, Pineapple, Cranberry, Peach, Papaya, Acerola Cherry and fibre from dates and prunes. Carrot, Parsley, Beetroot, Kale, Broccoli, Cabbage, Spinach, Tomato, and the fibre from Oats and Rice bran, Concord Grapes, Elderberries, Bilberries, Red & Black Currants, Cranberries, Blackberries & Raspberries, Blueberries. Why would I need to eat that much daily? The US government now recommends that we eat 7-13 servings of raw fruit and vegetables daily, depending on your age your gender and your activity levels. So the more active you are, the more important it is that you support that activity with good nutrition. Many nations around the world make similar recommendations. Our own government’s advice of just 5 a day is seriously outdated. Why do I need more fruit and veg if I exercise? Exercise requires the burning of oxygen. The by- product of burning oxygen in the body is the creation of free radicals. Although we need some free radicals, in excess they damage our cells and our DNA. This damage has been linked to all degenerative diseases. In addition they damage muscle tissue, which leads to pain, fatigue, poor rates of recovery and repair, leading to compromised immune function. So reducing free radical damage is of particular importance for the athlete. The antioxidants and phytonutrients found in fruits and vegetables have been clearly shown to reduce free radical damage. How do I know that Juice plus will do the same? Juice Plus+ has been independently studied in medical universities around the world, including our own Kings College in London. There have been 14 such studies published in medical literature. In fact Juice Plus+ is the most thoroughly researched nutraceutical product in the world and will continue to be so. It is also supported by the European Nutraceutical Associastion. Here is a summary of what these studies have shown. 1. Juice Plus+ more than doubles the antioxidant capacity of your blood 2. Free radical damage is reduced buy 75% or more 3. Reduced free radical damage to proteins in athletes after bouts of extreme exercise 4. DNA damage reduced by between 40%-60% 5. All parameters of immune function enhanced. Particularly T cell and natural Killer cell activity. (up 30%) 6. Improved flexability of the arteries and improved circulation 7. Lowers Homocysteine to safe levels. (Homocysteine is an amino acid that if elevated in the blood has serious consequences for cardio vascular health and alzheimers disease. In fact nothing you can take anywhere in the world with or without a prescription has been shown to achieve all that. Ok so who else recommends it and uses it? Well for starters Juice Plus+ will be official sponsors to the German Olympic team in 2012. Also used by the French National downhill ski team. Andreas Thorkilden Javelin thrower. PB 91.59 m. In Sean’s words: “Every season my body has broken down with fatigue at least once in a season, but since taken Juice+ Feb 09, I have not encountered such a problem. From my own experience, I think it is a very good product that has helped me enormously. Firstly, I found that I recovered quicker after workouts, especially hard ones, secondly my heart rate lowered by nearly 5 beats within a year at the same power output (normally drops around 1 beat a year, not 5) and thirdly not one competitive athlete in the UK has competed in so many distances events as I did in 2009, which in turn puts a vast amount a strain on the body (requiring huge amounts of stamina). 2009 saw me go the entire season without any minor or major illness, which was a first. My performances were far greater than in any previous season and although I had trained harder than ever before, I truly believe that the benefits of Juice+ greatly played their part.”
