What is it with Russell Brand? My feed has been filled with multiple links to the latest by Russell. Now, I get that he is charming. I find myself charmed. But he is also a con artist. But what I fundamentally dont understand is why so many progressive women find him attractive. Isnt his behaviour sleazy and creepy? Or does his charm excuse the way he treats women? I lost interest in his recent article the moment he said he never voted. Yes, I like the way he gives the media a good going over and calls attention to political corruption. But its all rock star, celebrity protest from a position of privilege. Ive been involved with the Australian Greens who have built enough political momentum to have a real impact. I also get that he is intelligent and well-read, but his analysis is still superficial and nihilistic. Is it really a case of loving the charming, alpha-male, bad boy?
