What is it with the bogus stories people post and implore everyone to share? Today, I see the one about leaving onions laying around to absorb the flu virus and protect you and your family from getting sick. The story ends with an urgent entreaty to share if you care about those you love. Seems like a dickish thing for the author to add given that the story is completely false. As usual, check Snopes. The flu/onion story has been around since the 50s and does not contain a shred of truth. Two things: I wonder how many people have died over the years from believing bullshit like this; and, two: why cant people just do a 5 second Google search to check the veracity of things they read instead of just saying wow and hitting Share? snopes/medical/swineflu/onion.asp
