What is not being said, however, is that the whole of Asia had quickly moved up the ladder of global competitiveness and that the Philippines is merely playing catch up and is far from the tiger economy which is the country’s supposed status in Noynoy’s imagination. The Philippines indeed moved up in most of the global surveys conducted but its neighbors had climbed twice as fast which makes the country still in the bottom part when rated among its regional peers. Still the biggest boast of Noynoy is inclusive growth which immediately falls flat on its face when confronted with the 25 percent or more extreme poverty among the 100 million Filipinos. The supposed strong growth is felt by the elite that includes Noynoy and his family which make up less than 10 percent of the population. Inclusive growth appears to have been limited to within the tiny circle of the rich and powerful to whom the administration of Noynoy protects and caters. It is when Noynoy speaks of the non-existent economic progress in the country that make more Filipinos wonder is he is indeed in touch with reality. A president who has a total disconnect with majority of Filipinos is what Noynoy fully projects.
