What is predestined to be will be for you and me. I have been offered a speaking engagement at the Olivia Rainey Historical Library in Raleigh NC. Many years ago after I finished the first book, I was offered a speaking engagement by the Braswell Memorial Library of Rocky Mount NC. At that time in the season of my life, it wasnt expedient for me to do so and I graciously declined. Now however with the onset of the new book, the opportunity has arrived again. When I was a little lad, my mother used to tell me that I would be a preacher or a lawyer because I had the gift for Gab and loved to ask questions. If I had it to do all over again, I would go to school to study law. As for the preacher part, I now know that it is for me to go and tell the world about the Locus Lucas family, the blood I inherited from my mother. Anyone who has ever spoken to me will tell you that I have a great speaking voice, am eloquent in speech and very articulate. Let me back you up to how this speaking engagement came to be. Last Saturday, My beloved wife and I went to the library to look for a book to use for reference information for the new book. At least thats what we thought we were there for. I remained outside while Felecia went in. I was coming in a little later. Not long after Felecia went inside, she came back with an urgent look on her face, beckoning me to come inside. When I came to meet her, she told me that the librarian wanted to speak to me because they were planning on doing a presentation on Valentine Locus based upon the fact that he was a colored man who fought in the Revolutionary War. I dropped all that I was doing and together we stepped inside. The librarian, Toni as we discovered her name to be, wasnt at the front desk. However she was soon back with a folder in her hands which we soon learned contained what little information they had just begun to learn about Valentine Locus. I introduced myself as one of Valentines 6th great grandsons and she delighted, shook my hand and wanted to show us what she and her supervisor had discovered on Valentine. However what she discovered, I already knew of and was able to enlighten her on a little more information as our time was limited because they were closing soon for the weekend. Felecia and I left information on the Locus Lucas book page on Facebook along with our names and left. Fast forward to today. I came on line to the book page, Born Into Freedom The Locus Lucas Family An American Saga Based On True Events, and Toni had contacted me by posting on the page. I called the library and spoke to her supervisor and was asked to speak on Valentine Locus. And I will accept with a humble spirit and an overflowing heart to tell others of the ancestors. As for the conversation between myself and the supervisor, the same thing had been said between Felecia and myself on the way from the library. What chances are there that we would go to the library for one thing and some other things entirely would transpire? Who would have thought they would pick Valentine Locus to do a presentation on and during that time, in would walk one of his descendants? And at that time they would be working on the book for the Locus Lucas family? God is truly amazing! Thats why I stated in the beginning title, what is meant for you will be because it is predestined.
