What is rapture? To answer this question in a beneficial manner to a seriously seeking listener, one needs to state the general thinking, the gaps in that thinking and then give an indication of how best to appreciate the concept of Rapture. The general thinking about Rapture suggests a sudden physical taking away or sucking up of the physical man of flesh and blood to the high heavens. This is believed to be one of the signs of the end time. A thinking of this nature will naturally, on further deep reflection, put man in confusion and conflicts. The first point to clarity is that man on earth is made up of the spirit and thephysical body, which acts like a tool to the spirit. The physical body, as we all read from various scriptural accounts, is made of material substance, and that is why upon physical death it is said: ‘Earth to earth, dust to dust’. This practice is in tune with the natural order in Creation because everything must go back to its origin. On the other hand, the spirit of man came from a higher plane in the spiritual home of man, and therefore is of a different nature in origin from the physical body. According to the natural order in Creation also the spirit of man will ultimately depart, after attaining to full maturity, to journey back to the spiritual home called Paradise. No physical body of flesh and blood can enterinto this spiritual plane or Paradise because itis not of the same nature as that plane. Therefore the current thinking on Rapture is wrong. A human being on earth, however, can so livehis life in total submission to the Holy Will of God, knowing and observing the Natural Laws, such that he could be said to be totally enraptured in this way of living. This will automatically make his spiritual being become so light and aflame that upon dropping the physical body the spirit would be practically sucked up and taken away to high heavens.
