What is the Ultimate Goal of Life? Heres the devotion... What is the Christians Ultimate Goal? Titus 2:12-14 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. *What a great question! Many people will come up with many answers to this question. While the subject certainly is open to debate and good Christians may disagree, I want to present an answer that you may not have thought of before. Here are some great answers to this question. Our goal is heaven, our goal is to become more like Christ, to spread the gospel to the four corners of the earth. But there is a different goal that tie all of these thoughts together and that is to be eager to do what is good. The Christian life is about the transformation of the heart, its about a life that no longer pursues what they want but what God wants. In the end, a Christian is eager to follow God and His commands. This is the attitude of the heart that God needs us to have to be right with Him. *When you are eager to know and love God, you will be willing to say no to the things of the world. Why? Because your wants will no longer be in this world. This will lead you to living a self controlled life where God controls your heart and your heart guides you to be like God. It is impossible to live this upright life if you do not desire it. Desire is the condition of the heart that empowers you to live the way God wants you to live. Its really that simple. A great prayer would be Lord, help me to have the desire to obey you. Help me to be eager to be more like You. When we are eager for God, then we will be looking forward to the appearing of Jesus Christ. Heres a question to measure your walk with God. How much do you look forward to seeing Jesus face to face? *To attain this attitude, we must dig deep and begin to reflect on what Christ did for us on the Cross of Calvary. Did He not give himself for us. Imagine, here on earth, that somebody risked their life by saving yours. How appreciative would you be? What if they died in the process? You would never forget it and be eternally grateful. When we grasp the truth of our Lords sacrificial death, it will make us more eager than ever to bow down and worship Him and never forget His sacrifice. You are on the earth for Christ to purify you from your sinful condition. Its not just about the forgiveness of sins for that is the beginning of the Christian life. Its really about becoming more and more like Him, being as sinless as possible while living in a sinful world with sinful DNA. When we are eager for God, everything else will fall into place.
