What is the ecological community? The ecological community covers - TopicsExpress

What is the ecological community? The ecological community covers one of the most biologically-diverse and distinct parts of the Murray-Darling River system and provides vital ecosystem services to the region and beyond. It incorporates the main river channel, its tributaries, wetlands and native-vegetated floodplains from the confluence of the Murray and Darling Rivers to the Coorong and mouth of the Murray in South Australia. The general envelope for the ecological community is the 1956 flood line. The Conservation Advice, which provides a detailed description of the ecological community and an assessment of the threats impacting on it, is available; along with maps of its distribution on the Department’s website at: environment.gov.au/cgi-bin/sprat/public/publicshowcommunity.pl?id=92
