What is the last situation within US borders that has escalated to using sonic crowd dispersal technology, flash bangs, rubber bullets, militarized, riot ready urban police squads and demands that people vacate and desist from any kind of organized protest? Rodney King riots? Occupy Wall Street? Trayvon Martin? UC Davis? Sandy Hook? I cant really think of anything that has escalated to this point, this quickly, in the age of the internet and social media. Even if the kid who was shot and killed was guilty of the worst that anyone could imagine, this is still a watershed moment in the popularization of militant, authoritarian police action on the population theyre sworn to and paid to (by us!) protect and serve. How do you feel about it? Scared? Blasé? Business as usual? This was bound to happen? Does it occupy little of your attention, or are you already packing your bug-out bag? Is it hard to wrap your mind around, or is it no big deal?
