What is the theological significance for a church to do a ham and egg supper and to give all the money raised to support children with special needs? In the gospel of John, the risen Christ lives on through the community. Our job in the church is to lift up the love of Jesus to the world so that sins can be forgiven. In John, the commissioning of the church takes place Easter evening. Jesus lives on through the arms and legs of the church. It is important that we publicly show people that we feed the hungry, help those in need, and help those with disabilities. Why? Because we are nice people? No we do it to show the love of Christ to the world so that Christs love may be lifted up to the world. It is all about loving your neighbor. Those who say that they dont need the church go against the Gospel of John.
