What is there to do on a cold, icky, rainy Saturday in Marquette? - TopicsExpress

What is there to do on a cold, icky, rainy Saturday in Marquette? No problem! I did my shopping in the morning along with starting a big pot of chicken soup. At 11 am we headed to the Marquette Regional History Center to see if we could learn anything new about our Granddaughter Jessicas French-Canadian lineage (its French-Canadian Heritage Day and Week). We met with the genealogist and got good tips on websites that could help us find out where her immigrant 2 and 3-times great grandfathers came from back in 1884. We also enjoyed the new Victorian exhibit in the special exhibition gallery before doing the walking tour of French Canadian locations in Marquette via new technology that let us walk to those places on a projected map of the city. Afterwards we had a wonderful lunch at Sol Azteca Mexican restaurant overlooking the harbor. Following a break at home we headed to 5 pm service at church for Blessing of the Pets after the communion service. No unusual animals this year, but probably at least 30 dogs and a handful of cats, our Harry included. He was a good boy and handled the presence of all those canines in his usual mellow way. It was sad not to have our precious Susi with us this year. Tomorrow afternoon well be heading to Ishpeming to do the Crop Walk to support the hungry of our area and international locations. Dont know how far well be able to go with our canes (possibly in the rain), but well give it a good try. No better place in the world to live than right here in Marquette!
