What is your opinion? Customer Service has changed over the past 30 years. Thirty years ago stores employed a larger sales force that was trained in the products that they sold. A customer expected to be greeted by all employees encountered in a store and finding a knowledgeable clerk or two in the department that they were shopping in. If a customer did not have this experience, it didnt matter if the price was a little better they would not return. Today in most stores that type of customer service is gone with stores trying to operate on partial staffs without providing adequate training to the staff. Years ago product and selection was mandatory while today we are seeing less selection and many outages. We are told that most customers today only care about price and that they will sacrifice their time to stand in lines or stand around to be waited on to save a nickle or a dime. We are told that many have never experienced good personal service and dont know that they should expect to be treated as though that the reason the store is there is just to serve them. We are told that customers no longer expect to be treated as number 1. Data released by customer research companies all rate one large box that is still building more stores at the bottom of every survey and this certain store is known as paying poor wages, not employing enough to adequately service a store, outages, poor selection, lines that people expect to stand in for 30 minutes and many of their products are made in unsafe working environments where some claim the workers are paid slave wages. But people still flock even in their jamies to this store Has Americans to save a nickle or a dime succumbed to the idea that they should expect to be treated poorly? Have we as a society, to be able to buy more, turned our backs on the people that make the products? What do you think? What is more important to you.... price, service or something else? Since this question is asking your personal opinion there is no wrong or right answer.
