What kind of legacy will you leave? Thats really a deep and serious question. One we must all ask because truth is we are going to die. This issue obviously weighs heavy on my heart since the untimely death of Jon, my husband and friend, and father of Zach and Jenna. Jon was a guy that truly had a soft heart for people. He was also a guy who had his own hurts and demons to deal with and sometimes hid that soft side as a protective measure. Nonetheless, his heart for the hurting, down trodden, homeless, addicted, incarcerated, sick, and grief stricken was evident to me. Jon flew off the radar. He liked it that way. Free spirit many would say. It was tradition from when the kids were toddlers that Jon would take them downtown and hand out money, food, or blankets to the homeless. No judgment. Just love. While Jon was broken and far from perfect, he was authentic, loving, and generous. He loved his family, friends, and most importantly Jesus. He may not have talked about his love of God but if you looked past some of his bravado, its easy for this gal to see his true love for something greater than himself. The kids and I engaged in #Operation48 as a way to honor Jons memory, legacy, and life. Words cannot express my gratitude to those of you who donated to this cause and to those who showed up last evening to help. Zach and Jenna beamed brightly as they loved on others and helped hand out hoodies. This Mama was humbled and grateful as she watched with love and gratitude the legacy of love and servanthood Jon left behind. I feel great peace and much joy today KNOWING Jon lives on not only in our hearts but the hearts of many .
